When you become a member, regardless of the tier, you’ll receive a physical membership card in the mail that you can present for visits and at events. Also, you’re automatically signed up for our mailing list, so look out for an email from us welcoming you in!
Nope! We try to keep the email to a minimum. What you can expect are invitations to upcoming events, some donation appeals (approximately twice a year), and digital copies of our membership newsletter when new issues are published. That’s all!
We are in the process of expanding our membership offerings. As such, members-only programming is a bit limited at present. But this is subject to change as part of our Strategic Plan!
Most recently, we held a members-only Mary Walker Medal of Honor viewing event. Be on the look-out for promotional emails and event listings on the website marked “Members-Only!”
When signing up for membership, include both your name and the name of the person you’re gifting the membership to. Be sure you let them know you’ve done so; when renewals come around, they will be notified and not you!

We are always in need of docents to give guided tours of the Richardson-Bates House Museum. Read more about volunteering.

Donations in-kind are a less frequent, but still welcome alternative to financial contributions. For example, massive kudos to Port City Copy Center for their ongoing donations of small-run print materials for our events!
