The below Accessibility statement applies to on-site visits to the Richardson-Bates House Museum. Please use our Contact page for any questions or corrections regarding the material of this page.

Restrooms

The first floor of the Richardson-Bates House Museum has a restroom, at the back of the entrance hall. The restroom is wheelchair accessible but not completely handicapped accessible.

Services for Mobility Impairments

The Richardson-Bates House Museum is wheelchair accessible on the first floor only. The accessible entrance ramp is located to the rear of the Museum for patrons using walkers or wheelchairs, and drivers can use the driveway to the right of the house to park right next to the ramp. There is no elevator inside, meaning second floor access is limited. There is, however, a video version of the second floor tour available for patrons who cannot make it up the stairs.

Services for Audio Impairments

A typed tour guide is available to anyone who would like to read the tour rather than listen to it.

Languages

We have written tour scripts in Spanish, French and German. We also have a Spanish-speaking volunteer tour guide who may be available by appointment.

Please contact us in advance at (315) 343-1342 with any questions regarding these issues.

The Oswego County Historical Society seeks to interpret its collections to connect the community to past, present and future topics relevant to local history, and to promote a public interest in Oswego County’s historical resources.
