Following the presentation, guests will be invited to the second floor of the Richardson-Bates House Museum to view the Dr. Mary Edwards Walker exhibition. This permanent exhibit invites visitors to interpret her life and legacy of service and activism and proudly displays Dr. Walker’s Medal of Honor. The creation of this permanent exhibit, which opened in June 2024, was made possible through the support of the Richard S. Shineman Foundation, the Oswego County Legislature, the William Pomeroy Foundation, the Charles Courtland Hall Jr. Family (relatives of Dr. Mary Walker), and dozens of local donors who contributed to the Mary Walker Campaign.

Medal of Honor Day, established as a federal day of observance in 1990, commemorates the bravery and sacrifices of over 3,500 individuals who have been awarded the congressional Medal of Honor. Curtis Shoup’s medal was displayed at last year’s Medal of Honor Ceremony. Planning is already under way for Medal of Honor Day 2026 which will fall on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
